A Stitch in Time

Hey, everyone. :) 

I had a horse show this past weekend, and my pony did SOO WELL and I’m SOOOO PROUD of him that I am almost heartbroken at what is coming this week. The girl I take to riding with me (whose name I will not disclose) wants to try him because she doesn’t like the pony she is currently riding. And while I am happy for her, and while I sometimes feel like I have outgrown my little Stitchypoo, I am a TINY bit jealous. What if she loves him? What if she starts getting blues on a pony that I got low placings with? These things, obviously, don’t matter. I will still have the opportunity to ride him on the weekends, and I will ALWAYS love him. ALWAYS.

At the same time, this presents an opportunity. There is another horse at our barn that needs a strong, confident rider. Stitch has taught me to be that rider, and so tomorrow, I will be transferring to that horse. Even if the girl riding Stitch tomorrow doesn’t love him, and doesn’t want to ride him anymore, I will keep riding this new horse…Levi. 

Levi first came to our barn, as I can recall, mid December. I was one of the first to try him, and I didn’t have the confidence then that I have now. I got frustrated with him. He is only 4 years old, and I got mad because he wasn’t being perfect. I have now mastered patience with horses, and so I am ready to take on Levi again. What’s funny is that he looks EXACTLY like Joey from War Horse. I am CERTAIN he played that horse. After all, they had 12 horses ALONE that played Joey.

He could be my Joey. All I have to remember is this: be calm, be confident, be soft.

What I’m getting at here is: I’m EXCITED. SUPER DUPER DUPER EXCITED. This means so much to me that I am CERTAIN if anything goes wrong, I will be able to handle it calmly and rationally. And Stitchy will still be there for me. He’s the cutest pony ever, the BEST CUDDLER, and the best pony to go to when I have to cry. I love him so much. And I love LEVI too. :)
